Grand Canal Study

Tom Says: Whilst many will be used to seeing my Venetian pieces as vibrant and colourful interpretations, I  think a stripped back energetic mixed media study works just as well. I've incorporated rough pen and ink mark making to depict the rustic facades whilst sky and water are more opaque layers of acrylic.

Butler creates this narrative with an expert use of characterisation; the people that occupy his scenes, a stylised representation of society that has often been compared to L.S.
